The Chateau of William the Conquerer.
In the pleasent town of Falaise the castle is on a rocky spur overlooking the town. It is a must for a visit to this region as William had such an influence over English history. There are many nice shops and Cafés here too.
The village of La Forêt Auvray.
Here there are the two little market halls which date back to the XVIII Century. In the summer they are beautifuly decorated with many flowers. Walkers and visitors can sit at the table and benches for a rest and eat their packed food. The village is situated on the GR36 which is a very old walking route which goes from the north of France to Spain.
The View point of The Roche d` OEtre
The best place for wonderful views of the region. There is an information centre with all you need to know in the form of leaflets of the many walks and footpaths and places to visit and eat in the area. There is also information on the natural fauna and flora around and about. There is a good car park and a resturant on site too. Also nearby, those who are fit and the young ones will find an Adventure park with various levels of skill courses to climb about.
Rabodanges Lake
A pleasant man-made lake created in 1960 by EDF the electricity company. It is 6 kms long and 250 metres wide. You can walk or sit on its banks or take a boat trip from Putanges. Also, if you book, you can have a meal on board the boat as you slowly glide along the water seeing all the wildlife. There is also a café and a resturant by the lake.
